Goal

Our goal was to understand customer needs and market dynamics to optimize product positioning and uncover critical UX feature priorities across competitors in the market.

User Research and Voice of Customer (VoC)

  • Synthesized Multi-Channel Insights: Combined customer interview transcripts, public forums (e.g., Reddit, SelectScience), and field notes to map user sentiment across target lab segments.

  • Quantitative NLP Scripting: Developed a custom Python script and codebook to extract keyword frequencies from transcript data, establishing a data-driven framework to weight feature urgency.

  • Global Insights & AI-Driven Synthesis: Analyzed regional VoC datasets (China markets), utilizing FigJam AI workflows to rapidly group ~1,000 anonymized feedback points into actionable thematic summaries.

  • Affinity Mapping & Trend Extraction: Translated unstructured qualitative observations into clear design recommendations regarding hardware size, software usability, and maintenance friction.

Competitive Analysis and Sales Enablement

  • Framework-Driven Benchmarking: Evaluated key competitors using Agilent-created marketing pillars to identify positioning gaps, feature parity, and market opportunities.

  • Messaging Hierarchy Architecture: Deconstructed competitor strategies across a structured pyramid: analyzed Brand Promises, Positioning Statements, Value Propositions, Key Messaging, and Proof Points.

  • Sales Enablement Collateral: Translated competitive intelligence into actionable sales tools to equip sales teams with clear product differentiators during customer engagements.

UX Review

  • Field Research & Heuristic Evaluation: Conducted on-site lab observations using Nielsen’s 10 Usability Heuristics to identify friction points in lab software and propose targeted UX fixes (e.g., predictive error prevention and status visibility).

  • Brand System & Web Wireframing: Partnered with the brand team to redesign cover pages, page layouts, and UI components for an enterprise brand portal transition.

  • Documentation & Governance: Authored a comprehensive "guidelines for the guidelines" spec sheet detailing UI standards, including typography hierarchy, color usage, and annotation rules to ensure visual cohesion across teams.

  • Stakeholder Alignment: Collaborated directly with cross-functional stakeholders to refine mockups, streamline asset organization, and ensure a seamless system migration.
